Danielle D'Ottaviano

Danielle, a Brazilian photographer living in Texas since 2014, always says she doesn't remember life without having a camera. Her earliest memories of photography dates back to when she was 7 years old and photographed, in film, an entire birthday party for her family. Then, during her fifth-grade summer camp, she was the only one of her friends to bring a camera. She still keeps and cherishes those pictures! For Danielle, photography is a profound passion, and not a day goes by without a reminder of how much she loves her craft.Through her lens, she encounters incredible individuals and forges genuine connections, witnessing families grow and evolve. Danielle feels humbled and honored each time she is chosen to play such an important role: creating and preserving meaningful memories for families. Her work reflects the beauty of life’s fleeting moments, celebrating love and connection through the art of photography.

Statement

As a photographer, I am deeply inspired by the vibrant traditions of Día de los Muertos. This celebration is not just a remembrance of those we've lost; it's a vivid tapestry of life, love, and memory. My work seeks to tell a story, and I aim to evoke the rich colors and intricate details that make this celebration so unique, inviting viewers to engage with their own memories and reflections on life and death. My hope is that my images resonate on a personal level, bridging cultural divides and fostering a deeper understanding of this beautiful tradition. As we celebrate those who came before us, I invite you to join me in honoring their lives through the art of photography, reminding us that love transcends time and that every memory is a thread in the fabric of our existence.
